Sooo this week has been full of change. It feels like I was in the MTC 10 years ago and to think it was only on Wednesday that I left is insane to me. Saying goodbye to my district at the MTC was one of the hardest and saddest things I have ever done. I still think about it and want to cry, lol. Anyway, traveling was kind of stressful. All of us were running on 4 hours of sleep over a couple of days so we were all dead tired. I slept a little on the plane ride which felt good, but still not enough. Once we landed in Detroit one of the A.P.'s met all of us by the baggage claim and we waited there for President Johnson, who is from Sparks. He was picking up the Spanish speaking elders who had come in from the Mexico MTC and were at a different gate. After meeting him we all loaded into two cars and headed to the mission home. I have never been that tired in my entire life and I was falling asleep standing up. That night we had short interviews with the president and he told me I was going to be serving in Tiffin, Ohio and my trainers name is Sister Nelson.
The next day, we got ready and went to the church where we met our trainers. It was a lot to take in but I met my companion and she's really good! I am so grateful for that. We had a two-hour drive from the church to Tiffin and once we got to the apartment my companion mentioned it can be tough in Tiffin. We have about 20 active members in the branch here and a lot of what we will be doing is working with members to get them back to church. The apartment is very "homey”, and the kitchen is a hallway. Not what I’m used to. It's been interesting but it could definitely be worse. That night we sat outside and watched the sunset AND I got to see fireflies for the first time and it was amazing!! The rest of the week I've just been trying to adjust to missionary life, and it's been different and a challenge, but I know it will get better as I get to know the people. I wanted to mention Sister Nelson said we have a baptism on Saturday. I didn’t teach her a single lesson but I’m definitely counting it! She is 12 and I look forward to getting to know her. We did a lot of service on Saturday. We pulled weeds for a lady who isn't a member but has parkinsons disease so we try to help wherever we can. We then went to some member’s house in the branch, and we helped to clean their house. It was a challenge, but we had additional help with a senior couple who showed up to help cut a couch in half with a chainsaw. That helped us get it out of the house and throw it away.
I am excited for my first P-Day in the mission. We plan on going shopping and thrifting.
I know that the Lord wants me to be here. I am so grateful for all the people He has put into my life as a support system. Without them it would be much tougher for me. I know He is watching over me and helping me through these first changes and challenges in my mission. I know with time I can become stronger. I know He loves each and every one of us more than we can comprehend and if we just "hold on in His love" our struggles will be made lighter. Sooooo much has happened, and I never know what to include and what not to include.
Trust in the Lord!!
Love,
